Dungeons and Dragons dungeon masters always need NPC stat blocks. Players want to talk to everyone—the shopkeeper, the beggar, the wanderer, and whoever else the DM randomly mentions. However, the real problem only begins when the players want to persuade or attack the non-player character. Then a stat block is needed.
